According to Royal Caribbean's official prohibited items policy, here is what you absolutely cannot bring on board:
⚡ Power Strips, Extension Cords, & Multi-Plugs
This is the number one thing that catches cruisers off guard. To prevent electrical fire hazards, Royal Caribbean bans all extension cords, power strips, and multi-plug outlet blocks.
What to do instead: Bring a certified multi-port USB charging hub instead, as these are typically permitted if they don't feature an extension cord or surge protection.
💨 Steamers & Irons
You want your formal night clothes looking crisp, but clothing irons, garment steamers, tea kettles, and coffee makers are strictly banned due to extreme heat risks.
What to do instead: Pack some wrinkle-release spray, or utilize the ship's onboard laundry and pressing services. (Note: Hair straighteners and curling irons are allowed).
🌿 CBD & Cannabis Products
Even if cannabis or CBD oils are completely legal or medically prescribed where you live, they are strictly prohibited. Because cruise lines must follow federal and international maritime laws, these substances are treated as illegal drugs on board.
🛑 Beer & Hard Liquor
You cannot bring your own liquor, beer, or seltzers on board; security will confiscate them at the pier.
The Exception: Each guest of drinking age is allowed to bring one (1) sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne in their carry-on luggage on embarkation day. Boxed wine is prohibited. You can also bring up to 12 cans/bottles of non-alcoholic beverages per stateroom.
🕶️ Smart Glasses (Usage Restrictions)
While you can technically bring smart glasses (like Meta Ray-Bans) on board, Royal Caribbean has strict rules banning their use in private or sensitive areas. You cannot wear them in the casino, spa, restrooms, youth facilities, medical areas, or during security screenings.
⚔️ Sharp Objects & Weapons
Any item that could be used as a weapon is a no-go. This includes pocket knives, scissors with blades longer than 4 inches, pepper spray, and realistic replica toy guns.
